Emotions - deep dive

What lies behind the emotional conversation?

Emotions at the taxonomy level is primarily eight:

  • ·      Happy
  • ·      Sad
  • ·      Fearful
  • ·      Surprised
  • ·      Angry
  • ·      Disgusted
  • ·      Awed
  • ·      Hatred

At an extension level, there are combined: Angrily surprised, Sadly surprised, Fearfully surprised etc, which are another 144 variations. Much of this gets captured and expressed facially and is explained in the facial Action Coding System.

Emotions to me is the debris, that lies at the intersect of Body and Mind, when disbalance takes place. Rather than call it disbalance it is the differential of two states that are not in equilibrium. So too is energy. Energy is caused only through a differential current, between two opposing points, else it would be in total zone of potentiality. The kinetics of energy is this primary action.

Body and Mind are one and the same: the alpha and the omega. The gross and the subtle. The fluid and the solid. Its existence is one. Like the Head and Neck and shoulder is one, merely made separate by conventional references by us.  The naming of nouns, is to be understood: it supports taxonomy and classification. But it is to be understood that it is the same – one single interconnectedness.

We are as humans interconnected with our environment and ecology: one disbalances the other. One without the other, is unviable. This must be clear.

Behind the emergent issue lies the dormant.  Critical that the withheld is actioned, the invisible made visible, the muted, sounded off, the unstated stated, the edited, verbalized, the withheld, released.

For example, a person who is unwell : treat the systems: you must do that. But attack the root cause. Else one leaf will replace another, one limb by another. It is the root.

All problems exist at the phenomenological level, the inter-personal level, and then again the intra-personal level. Probing these multi facetted levels you penetrate the existential level. Then the nothingness, is seen as all that is full. The one consciousness. The one Brahmin.

As the Manduka Upanishad confirms, the living, dreaming, and deep sleep phase is all of the states of Brahmin. All emotional states are those of the sensory: the interplay of Prakriti and Purush.

  1. The idea that our minds and emotions play a critical role in our health is given. If we assume health is the body, then the debris is detrimental or can create a positive influence, which ever way.

When we are drive ourselves far without being attentive to where we already are, we can leave a wake of disaster behind us in terms of our own health and wellbeing, because we’re not listening to the body.

What is therefore required is understand the "Here and Now" as if there is no tomorrow. Treat the root causes. Does the emotional conversation suffice or should we look at emotional connect ?

  2. Sankara you are right. The debris (emotion) between mind and body is the 'fluid' to do either positive or negative. Anger ( arising from frustrated love) for instance gives energy, but rage dissipates it without thought. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to be intelligent about the use of one's emotion for self and the other. It takes poison to poison. Small pox was eliminated by working with the virus itself. The vaccine is made from a virus called vaccinia, which is a poxvirus similar to smallpox, but less harmful.
And conversations if held authentically, create a 'heart to heart'. When heart listens it picks up both the heart and mind. Then trust is born. Not trust of the other, but feeling confidant to trust oneself.
